SACRED GROUND OUTSIDE YOUR DOOR
SUNDAY AFTERNOON - MAY 1st
2:00 to 4:00
Kingston Point Park - Kingston, New York
EXPLORE OUTSIDE YOUR DOOR - we will start with a special hour for young people to explore the wonder of what is right outside all of our doors... this is an experiential activity connecting young people with nature and animals led by Dr. Leonisa Ardizzone and Environmental Justice students at Vassar College.
CLIMATE ACTION OUTSIDE YOUR DOOR - we will then gather - young and old - in a multi-faith celebration of our interconnected relationship with all things... to be followed by our collective pledge to engage in meaningful actions toward climate disruption.
Holi. Vaisakhi. Ramadan. Passover.
Holy Week and Easter. Vesak. Naw Ruz. Ridvan.
These devotional holidays between March 17 and May 8 attract billions of people. The Equinox, Earth Day, and World Water Day, which also occur during this time, engage even more people.
Together we’re showing up on our sacred days to connect climate justice with our spiritual values. With loving clarity, compassion and a commitment to justice, we must name the problem directly and call for action.
We are shifting the narrative by calling for an end to new fossil fuel projects and deforestation... by calling for the rapid and just transition to regenerative clean energy... and, by calling for a commitment to green jobs and rebuilding the economy sustainably.
Our diverse faith communities must share an urgent message during these sacred days: climate justice now!
